FREYA DOUGLAS-MORRIS

These paintings are a reaction and response to places I have either travelled to, or imagined. I make trips into various landscapes, to document them with photography and drawing. I then return to my studio in London, to create images that are built up through many thin layers of oil glaze. None of the paintings are topographical, but are instead an overlaying of various images and landscapes, to create fictitious scenes that attach no specific memory, rather a feeling of universal familiarity and other worldliness.
